Elementary students residing in town attend school in either Pierceton or South Whitley, both of which are about five minutes from Larwill.

Whitko Career Academy

The Academy is an exciting new educational opportunity for Whitko, Larwill, and all of northeast Indiana.

Located along State Road 5 on the south edge of Town is the Whitko Career Academy, a technical and vocational-based secondary learning experience. Opened in the fall of 2020, the Career Academy offers opportunities for students to learn skills applicable to a wide range of careers, in both established and developing occupational fields.

Sammons Memorial Park

Sammons Memorial Park

Sammons Memorial Park is located on the west side of Center Street, just north of the railroad track. The park remembers firefighter Jeffrey Sammons, who lost his life in the 1997 blaze that destroyed the Farmers Exchange Tavern. The park is a central landmark for Larwill, and its gazebo is a meeting place for residents, especially on warm summer evenings.

Community Library Resources

Larwill resident can get their library card at the South Whitley Public Library (SWCPL) and have access to the EverGreen system. 

Residents of South Whitley, Larwill, Cleveland and Richland Townships in Whitley County are eligible for a SWCPL card. A variety of different cards and account types are available based on where you live.
To apply for a library card, you will need to provide proof of residency as well as a completed application.
Acceptable proofs of residency would be:
Driver’s License or Photo ID with the correct address.
Driver’s License or Photo ID with a postmarked piece of mail addressed to a potential patron.
Driver’s License or Photo ID with a property tax receipt.
Minors (age 17 years or younger)
Residency is based on the residency of their parent(s)/guardian(s). They must provide proof of residency as listed above.
Emancipated Individuals (aged 17 years or younger)
Residency is established the same as for adults.

Larwill Fire Department

Larwill Fire Station

The Larwill fire department is made of volunteer firefighters from Richland and Etna Troy Townships. They’ve served the community for decades and provide rental of the firehouse for events.
